We’re partnering with Greenpop!

Plans for the inaugural Cape Town Eco Film Festival are starting to take shape and we can’t wait to share our exciting programme of documentary films with you towards the end of February.

We’re also extremely pleased to announce that we’ll be partnering with Greenpop.

GreenpopGreenpop is a social business that believes greening and sustainable living can be fun, popular and accessible for all. They’ve been fostering a greener, more conscious and inclusive movement through tree planting projects, green events, education, social media, “voluntourism” and activating people to start DOING for years.

We believe that the perfect fit between the Cape Town Eco Film Festival and Greenpop will make for a rewarding festival experience. A portion of each festival ticket sold will be donated to Greenpop and festival goers will also be able to add a tree (to be planted by Greenpop) to their ticket.

Deforestation is an immense global problem. In South Africa, we need to plant trees while addressing disparity – there is a huge divide between ‘leafy’ privileged and ‘barren’ under-privileged areas. Without a culture of planting trees in under-greened areas, environmental and social challenges are exacerbated.

Greenpop plants trees and invites everyone to join the treevolution, see inspiration instead of gloom in the green space, and create innovative and sustainable solutions. They pride themselves in making green living fun, educating people on best-practice tree care, monitoring the trees they plant and ensuring that together we leave a lasting legacy.

Getting our hands into the soil also reconnects us with nature and tree planting has benefits that reach far beyond carbon sequestration. With Greenpop, different cultures, races and ages come together to do something that benefits all.

Here at the Cape Town Eco Film Festival, we’re extremely chuffed to be associated with Greenpop. Look out for them at this year’s festival!
