Ballo, a company that was founded in Cape Town in January 2013, produces high quality, locally designed and made wooden sunglasses at an affordable price.
Check out these beauties!
What’s even more exciting than their gorgeous sunglasses – at least to us 😉 – is the fact that Ballo has recently become one of the sponsors of the 2014 Cape Town Eco Film Festival!
Their eyewood range of wooden sunglasses, which took 6 months to develop, not only offers the strongest wooden frames on the market, but is manufactured as environmentally friendly as possible.
All wood veneers used are off-cuts from local furniture manufactures, recycling potential waste, and over 60% of every frame is made out of an extremely strong recycled paper product. Laminating these constituents results in frames with exceptional strength and durability, making them prescription-ready (they can be fitted with RX lenses).
The remaining components are of equally high quality. Every pair has spring hinges and high-quality polarized lenses to provide superior glare reduction and UV protection.
Ballo provides both hard and soft cases with every pair of eyewood they sell. Their beautiful yet functional handmade wooden cases will keep your glasses safe, while their retro microfiber pouches ensure that your lenses are always clean.
Check out their range of styles, each of which is available in three wood options: imbuia, walnut and cherry. Each style-wood combination comes in two lens options: grey polarised and brown polarised.
